ABB VP800 Valve Positioner Module

Functional Description

The Valve Positioner VP800 provides control of the flow of steam, gas, or water through a turbine by

precisely regulating the position of the inlet valves. The VP800 adds turbine valve control capability to any

controller with a Profibus interface. It is intended for modulation of hydraulic actuators via servo valves or

I/H converters. 

The VP800 performs closed loop control for servo valves, utilizing single or redundant position feedback

devices, or open loop control for current drive valves. Two VP800's may be connected together to form 

a redundant configuration. 

The VP800 may be installed in centralized or remote locations. Communication to the module is

accomplished through the on-board Profibus interface for DCS operation or through a serial interface for

standalone configuration. Configuration is available via this communication port.
